Welcome to my blog. I’m Elise, from Canada, and I moved to South Korea to teach English in a university and explore a new country and culture. My ecclectic blog is to keep in touch with my family and friends, and to give them a glimpse of life in another country. I try to put on interesting links in the blogroll and on the Korea and China pages, so please have a look if you are curious!
If you have time, please leave a comment, it’s always a pleasure to read from you!

Hi Elise,
I ,like you, am in Korea via Taiwan and wonder if and when you will ever do a post comparing Taiwan and Korea?
Check out my personal blog at:

I plan to do a post about Korean fashion in the future with a focus on the crazy bejeweled ties and shiny suits. What is that all about anyway? Is there a name for this fashion? My male students claim they never wear this sort of stuff but someone is.

Hey Elise,
I stumbled upon your podcast and I enjoy it. I taught in Korea last year and plan on heading back. It’s nice to hear the new Korean songs. Hope you’re having a blast! It’s a fun country.

Hi there Elise,
I caught your blogger name off of another blog I found belonging to a member on PatterReview. The reason why I’m writing is that my DH and I are moving to Korea this summer, and I wanted to find people who are there already to ask them some questions. DH is in the US Air Force, and I’m Chinese myself. I’m excited to get back to Asia, and hope to read more of your blog to prepare for the new adventure! Drop me a line if you get a chance! (I also enjoy the Economist and lived in Canada for about 7 years.
